Whether you have recently moved to Fremont, California, or if you are planning a visit during the month of December, you will quickly discover what an amazing city this really is especially around the holidays. Many people are under the impression that you need to go to one of the larger and more populated cities in California to enjoy holiday festivities, but this is absolutely not true. Fremont has a lot more to offer than most people realize.
Christmas in Ardenwood
Ardenwood Historic Farm is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year, but when the museum is transformed into a magical Victorian Christmas fantasy, it is something pretty special. Tours are available Thursday through Sunday up until December 16th.
There will be caroling, crafts, puppet shows, dancing and even a visit from Santa. There is also a yule log scavenger hunt for children to participate in. For grownups, cookie baking contests will be in full swing on certain days; you will want to show up hungry on those days! On December 15th, a holiday card making workshop will take place and several naturalist-led events will be scheduled throughout the month to view the beautiful display of Monarch butterflies. They overwinter on the park’s eucalyptus trees, so be sure to bring your camera to capture a few photos of them.
Ohlone College Music Department: 5th Annual Christmas Extravaganza
On December 8th at 2 pm, you will want to be at Ohlone College to kick off the holiday season right. There will be holiday favorites performed by the Community Band, Mission Peak Brass Band, Tuba Ensemble, Wind Orchestra and the Clarinet Choir.
Newark Symphonic Winds Free Holiday Concert and Community Sing-along
There is a good chance that Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance at this free holiday event, so be sure to bring the kids! The Newark Saxophone Quartet will perform, and there will be plenty of holiday favorites that everyone is encouraged to sing-along with.
On December 21st at 8pm, Yoko’s Dance Academy will offer a one-night production of The Nutcracker in the Smith Center at Ohlone College. If you have never joined young Clara on her magical adventure when her Nutcracker comes to life to waltz and battle the rat king, now is the time to indulge. Bring the entire family to see the story of the Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Join Lisa Whelchel at the Pacific Commons on Tuesday, December 14th for holiday humor, a master illusionist, musical performances and inspirational stories that will really get you in the holiday spirit. The show starts at 7:30 pm.
Synergy Winter Wonderland Xmas Dinner Show Dance Party
On December 8th at 7:30 pm, everyone will dust off their dancing shoes for a night of fun at the Synergy Dance Ballroom. There will be dinner, dancing and a holiday show. All of the locals in Fremont, California look forward to this event, and tickets can be purchased ahead of time or at the door. Come out and introduce yourself to all of your new neighbors!
